Pre-wedding Function
The first function at the Kapoor house on 7th May saw many stars of Bollywood being a part of Sonam Kapoor’s mehendi function. The house was beautifully lit with lights serving as an aesthetic precursor of what would one see when inside the house. Close friends and relatives kept the tempo high.
We loved how Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja had colour co-ordinated their outfits in pastel shades at their Mehendi function. The bride-to-be chose to wear a lilac shade of sharara which she paired with ivory beige and peach kurta specially designed by Anuradha Vakil and styled to perfection by her sister Rhea Kapoor. She was glowing in subtle makeup while her hair were styled in dreamy soft curls.  Anand surely looked dapper in Salmon pink bandh-gala tunic and ivory pants.

Indeed a dreamy start to the wedding…
Mehendi look
After an intimate pre-wedding celebration, it was time for a grand mehendi celebration with the entire Bollywood fraternity. The official theme for Mehendi function was Indian festive- shades of white. You could trust the Kapoors to give a dress code for all, lest people came dressed like Christmas trees !
Sonam Kapoor and beau were seen having a gala time on the dance floor.. Sonam looked ethereal in an intricately embroidered ivory, blush pink and dull gold lehenga by the ace designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. To continue with the fairy tale look, her hair had been styled in middle parting with waves and gajras adorned her braid. Kundan choker, Maang tikka and Hair-hoops from earrings made the look very festive. However, it seemed like one had a dejavu effect from Sonam’s previous looks in Anamika Khanna.
Anand Ahuja looked suave in Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla’s Ivory kurta and a waist coat with a striking emerald brooch.  Once again, as the marital harmony demands, the couple was colour coordinated. One wonders whether its marital harmony or for photograph posterity that people choose to dress in same colours !

Wedding Day
Bets were on for whether Sonam would choose an experimental look or will play classic for her wedding. To the dismay of many, Sonam stuck to the ritualistic shade of red for her wedding lehenga. Indeed she looked a stunner, but maybe people had expected too much from her wedding style.
She wore a classic tomato red lehenga by none other than Anuradha Vakil. Many would wonder on who Anuradha Vakil is; to make matters easy, she is an old and coveted name in design fraternity from Ahmedabad.
Â
Getting over our first bout of disappointment and then taking enough time to appreciate the intricate detailing of lehenga, we loved the lotus motif detailing through her lehenga and dupatta. The Aisha actress looked resplendent in her bridal glory with traditional jewellery of a Sikh bride. Her mattha-pati and kaleera added to the bridal charm and made her look like a queen. Anand Ahuja arrived like a Royal King to the venue in a beige sherwani and a head turban. He was carrying the quintessential kirpaan while he flaunted pearl and fuschia strands around his neck.

One can only frame this royal portrait, isn’t it ?

After Party
After the big fat wedding extravaganza, Anand Ahuja and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja hosted a grand after- party at  Mumbai’s ‘The Leela Hotel’ on Tuesday night. Who’s who of Bollywood and business industry were present at the after-party. Besides the regulars, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan were amongst the few who kept dancing all night.
Â
Mr. And Mrs. Ahuja looked cute-in-love as they posed for the paparazzi.
Since it was only after-party and not a proper reception, Sonam kept it simple with a chevron lehenga in pigeon grey, ivory and gold by Anamika Khanna whereas Anand Ahuja got down to brasstacks. He chose to wear a charcoal bandhgala with ivory bottoms and added sneakers; cool cat right ? He knew he had to be on his toes while dancing ; comfort presided over the style.
Â
The venue was decorated with white and red flowers and the dress code for the evening was Indian or western formals. Stars like Saif Ali khan, Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Ambanis, Kangana Ranaut, Rekha, Rani Mukherjee, Madhuri Dixit, Shilpa Shetty and many more marked their presence at the after party.
Go ahead and tell us, which look did you like the most ?
Were you happy with the styling or did you expect more like us ? Not to take away that Sonam Kapoor looked a stunner in all her outfits, its just that we expected more from the Fashion queen of India.
