WHAT DO WOMEN WANT- the list endless.
Women’s psyche has intrigued the biggest psychoanalysts and behavioural scientists. Even in 2020 half a breed of the human race is still trying to decipher what the rest half wants. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel tried to answer it in the 1950’s with her quirky sense of humour and ultra-chic fashion sense. But in 2020, we are still grappling with the big idea of what women want.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is an American period comedy-drama web television series created by Amy Sherman- Palladino. Played by Rachel Brosnahan, the protagonist of the Emmy winning series – Miriam “Midge” Maisel is a homemaker in late 1950’s and early 1960’s New York City, who in the beginning has it all – a perfect husband, a perfect life and a perfect home which eventually blows up making her discover her knack for stand-up comedy and begins actively pursuing it.
Inspired by her witty, funny and true to the time fashion and stand up comedies, Ciceroni in association with Rareism hosted a fun-filled evening with Gujarat’s very own Mrs. Maisel aka Preeti Das reimagining Mrs. Maisel in 2020. Preeti Das is an award-winning journalist, Gujarat’s first woman stand-up comic artist, and a doting mother. Known to have spoken about a host of issues that bother women using comedy as the tool for change, she is also the co-founder of Mahila Manch and has been invited to perform at the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Festival 2020.
The specially curated event witnessed a few answers, some thought-provoking tales and a lot of rib-tickling humour.
From style icons of Ahmedabad to cerebral thinkers and professional to industry experts and fashion and lifestyle influencers, all dressed in Mrs. Maisel inspired ensembles; the event celebrated the “rare” women of the city alongside Rareism’s exclusive Mrs. Maisel collection.
