The craft of Kashmir Papier Mache refers, in practise, to the technique of surface decoration rather than the creation of the body of the object. Brought to India by the Muslims saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani from Persia in the 14th century, this fine craft requires infinite patience and mastery over the art. Narrating tales of the ancient Indian craft, this Papier Mache Round Clutch will be an artistic keepsake to add to your treasured accessory collection. Every tree, every growing thing as it grows, says this truth: You harvest what you sow. With life a short as a half taken breath, don't plant anything but love. The tree of life is symbolic in all cultures of creation, growth, protection and nourishment. Earlier, in remote forested areas, the bridegroom offered a tree to his bride as bride price, but the shortage of trees and of land eventually led to the offering of the painted Tree of Life, signifying an eternal relationship. Implores the artist Apindra Swain with this beautiful rendition of the Tree of Life to plant the seeds of love.

Depictions of flora and fauna along with geometrical patterns are common - the natural history of Kashmir is frequently depicted as can be seen with the prolific use of the Chinar leaf and tree.
